Why this is a bigger deal than it sounds
GTA 5’s launch versions had essentially no wildlife — animals arrived later and stayed set dressing. Red Dead Redemption 2 is the relevant precedent: ~200 species with ecosystem behavior, and that technology base is eight years more mature now. Rockstar spotlighting gators in trailers — including the instantly-memed convenience-store gator, and a certain Macca — signals wildlife as a feature, not background.
Our read (labeled analysis): expect RDR2-grade ambient ecosystems in the swamps and Keys — predator encounters, birdlife over water, urban critters — and don’t expect confirmed pet or hunting mechanics until Rockstar shows systems, not just species.
