Real-world inspiration analysis

The various structures of Port Gellhorn point to the city being primarily inspired by Panama City, Florida, and its neighboring Bay County municipalities, particularly Parker, Callaway, and Springfield. The area's description as "Leonida's forgotten coast" on the game's promotional website references Florida's Forgotten Coast, which lies near Panama City. The seaport of Port Gellhorn resembles Port Tampa Bay in Tampa, Florida, with the Bocamar Bridge connecting to it serving as a rendition of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge spanning Lower Tampa Bay. Port Gellhorn's name appears to pay homage to Martha Gellhorn, an American novelist and journalist who covered the U.S. invasion of Panama in 1989, traveling to Panama City to report on civilian casualties resulting from the invasion, from which Panama City, Florida, derives its name.
