What we know about Ocean Beach

The neighborhood covers the southern end of the city of Vice Beach, presumably below State Route 10. It is most notable for Shore Drive, which runs along the beach and features various iconic Art Deco hotels and restaurants. Ocean Beach first appeared in the September 2022 GTA VI leaks, with all clips set in Vice Beach seemingly taking place in the neighborhood. One leaked clip of test bed footage also shows a man in a placeholder Ocean Beach Police Department uniform, later becoming that of the Vice Beach Police Department in official media, with the shoulder patch confirming the neighborhood's name. The name of the neighborhood was explicitly referenced again in another clip, within a debug menu that listed various world events. The neighborhood was later officially shown in the first trailer, providing a more in-depth look at its various landmarks, before being directly mentioned by name in the description for Vice City on the game's promotional website.

Real-world inspiration analysis

Ocean Beach appears to be based on the South Beach neighborhood of Miami Beach, Florida. In the same way as its 3D Universe counterpart, the name is derived from Ocean Drive, a major thoroughfare in South Beach.
