Real-world inspiration analysis
The landscape of Mount Kalaga National Park is largely based on that of Georgia and northern Florida, with its canyon seemingly being inspired by Providence Canyon State Park in southwest Georgia and its namesake mountain most closely resembling the Table Rock mountain in western North Carolina. The name Kalaga is derived from the Cherokee word ᎧᎸᎬ (kalvgv, pronounced KAH-luh-guh) meaning "east" or "sunrise". The river flowing through the park appears to be a rendition of the Suwannee River, which runs through northern Florida and southern Georgia. The rail bridge spanning it may have been modeled after the Hillman Bridge, which crosses the Suwannee River in Ellaville, Florida.
