Grassrivers
leaked · unconfirmed
The Grassrivers is a natural region of flooded grasslands in Leonida, due to appear in Grand Theft Auto VI.
Known from community leaks/datamining — never presented as confirmed fact. Updated the moment Rockstar reveals it officially.
What we know about Grassrivers
The wetland region is located in the southern portion of the State of Leonida, and is currently known to run through Vice-Dale County and Mariana County. It was first indirectly referenced in Grand Theft Auto IV on Leftover-vacations.com in a Vice City travel advertisement, and on Craplist.net by a tourist who smuggled a crocodile from Vice City's wetland border to Liberty City. The region was then mentioned by name in the September 2022 GTA VI leaks on an educational interpretive sign titled "Energy in the Grassrivers", which explained the ecosystem of the Grassrivers. The Grassrivers later officially appeared in the game's first trailer in two consecutive shots: one showing an airboat traversing the region (0:19) and another featuring a large flamboyance of flamingos along with multiple alligators (0:20).
Sourced from Rockstar's trailers and official material via the community knowledge base (gta.wiki, CC BY-SA). This location is leaked/datamined — treated as unconfirmed until Rockstar shows it.
Real-world inspiration analysis
It is inspired by the Everglades region of Florida. The name is likely a reference to Marjory Stoneman Douglas' 1947 book The Everglades: River of Grass.
